The “SACICT WAR CRAFT” reality show program organized by the Sustainable Arts and Crafts Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) (SACIT) to find the best Thai handicraft design team, has reached the final stage. All five teams of contestants in the handmade product design contest enthusiastically presented practically new ideas in creating Thai handicrafts to further enhance development of Thai handmade and weaving products that meet the evolving requirements of consumers in the modern era. It is apparently a reflection that new-generation people still acknowledge the artistry, value, and brilliancy of Thai handicrafts. The handicraft design contest has led to new inspiration and innovative approaches for people in the handicraft industry to properly adopt and level up Thai arts and crafts. In addition, handicraft products meticulously created by all five handicraft product design teams will be on display on the final day so that judges will decide the winning team in the virtual format on September 25. Interested people can follow up on the rerun of the final round of the contest via the SACICT Facebook page
Pornpon Akathaporn, acting chief executive officer of the Sustainable Arts and Crafts Institute of Thailand (SACIT), said the “SACICT WAR CRAFT” handmade product design contest aims to promote the value of Thai handmade products and pass on the wisdom and charm of Thai handicrafts to future generations through collaboration between next-generation weaving product designers and experienced craft masters. All contestants have shown their endeavor and skills in weaving products as the COVID-19 pandemic created difficulties and limitations in working together. So, whatever the result may be, I consider that this is an accomplishment that goes beyond expectations. It is a testimony to the intimacy and weaving relationships between students and craft masters as each handicraft is masterfully complete in a modern design concept. It created value added to Thai arts and crafts, which can be further developed for commercial purposes. On Saturday, September 25, which is the final stage of the “SACICT WAR CRAFT” handmade product design contest, I would like to invite all Thai people to follow up on the live streaming showing the masterpieces of all five handicraft product design teams on SACICT Facebook page so that all Thais will be able to virtually witness the wisdom of Thai craftmanships and keep an eye on which teams will win the Popular Vote.”
