On 19-22 February 2023, under the coordination of the Turkish Republic Ministry of Trade, Central Anatolian Exporters’ Association (OAIB) in a joint partnership with the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) will organize the “Trade Delegation to Bangkok”. Leading Turkish manufacturers across multiple industries will join the delegation to present their companies and products to potential business partners in Thailand.
As part of the activities within the framework of the Trade Delegation to Bangkok, a bilateral business forum meeting session will be held on 21st of February 2023 at the Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel. The session will begin with a series of opening keynote speeches followed by B2B meetings between Turkish and Thai businesses. The event is designed to promote information exchange and business matching in support of potential partnership development between companies from Türkiye and Thailand. Leading exporters of electrical and electronic products, machinery and climatic devices, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, textile and raw materials, as well as agricultural and livestock products will join the event to present their innovative offerings to potential Thai business partners.
Trade relations between Türkiye and Thailand have been historically very strong and became even stronger after the pandemic. Bilateral trade volume between the two countries increased by 35% in 2021, followed by 18% increase in 2022, reaching 1 billion 933 million dollars. Türkiye’s exports in Thailand, after increasing 28% in 2021, increased by another 20% in 2022 and reached 282.5 million dollars. The chemicals industry ranks first in Türkiye’s exports to Thailand, reaching $95 million with an increase of 40% compared to the previous year. Among other sectors which recorded significant increase in 2022 were jewellery (181%), fishery and animal products (90%), cement, glass, ceramics and soil products (40%), defence and aerospace industry (38%), metals (33%), cereals, pulses and oilseeds (30%).
“Türkiye has made a great success for itself in global trade after the pandemic. Year on year, Türkiye's exports increase faster than global exports by more than 10%. The product range and production volume have expanded, the number of products subject to export has reached 5,000, and the number of exporting companies exceeded 100,000”, said Nihat Uysalli, Chairman of Board of Central Anatolian Exporters’ Association.
“In exports to Thailand there is a lot of untapped potential, particularly in agriculture and livestock products, pharmaceutical and chemical industry, mining and metal products, machinery and air conditioning industries. These industries were largely unaffected by the recent earthquake disaster, and we very much hope that the growth of trade and economic development will help support our country’s rapid recovery.”
