Siam Tea Room, the authentic Thai restaurant at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, is celebrating a “Taste of Summer” in Thailand with its new Khao Chae promotion.
Throughout March, April and May 2021, diners can experience the fresh and fragrant flavors of Khao Chae, an elegant dish of chilled rice in jasmine-infused water with classic condiments. Literally meaning “soaked rice”, this seasonal specialty originated in the Mon Kingdom, before it was adopted and enhanced by the Thai Royal court in the reign of King Rama V (1868-1873).
The Khao Chae set menu at Siam Tea Room starts with an amuse bouche of icy santol, bitter orange, shredded pork and fried shallots (for dine in guests only), before moving on to the main course of jasmine rice in chilled jasmine-infused water, served with fried herbal fish and shrimp paste; green pepper stuffed with shrimp, minced pork, and a fluffy fried egg; shallot stuffed with deep-fried minced fish; sweetened shredded pork; sweetened shredded sun-dried ray fish; fried egg and sweet pickled turnip; fried butterfly pea flower stuffed with shrimp; fried salted egg yolk; and vegetable crudités. To complete this unique epicurean experience, diners will enjoy a fresh watermelon soda (for dine in guests only).
Cool and refreshing, Khao Chae has now become a summertime favorite of the Thai people and serves as the annual dish of Songkran, Thailand’s New Year festival.
Khao Chae will be available at Siam Tea Room every day from 11.00 - 17.00 hrs, from 1 March to 31 May 2021. It is priced at THB 590++ per set (dine in) or THB 490++ per set (take away). Club Marriott members are entitled to a 15% discount (dine in only).
