กลับมาอีกครั้งหลังจากห่างหายไปนานถึง 4 ปีสำหรับละครเพลงจาก Young Artists Music Program (YAMP) วิทยาลัยดุริยางคศิลป์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล หลังจากที่ติดสถานการณ์โควิด-19 ทำให้ละครเพลง Mamma Mia! ไม่สามารถจัดแสดงได้ แต่ในปี 2566 นี้ เราได้นำ Mamma Mia! The Musical กลับมาทำการแสดงอีกครั้ง เตรียมพบกับการแสดงสุดพิเศษที่จะทำให้คุณได้รับความสนุกสนานและความบันเทิงอย่างเต็มรูปแบบ เด็กๆทุกคนตั้งใจร่วมมือกันอย่างสุดความสามารถ ทั้งนักแสดง นักดนตรี หรือแม้แต่ฝ่ายเบื้องหลังก็ตาม
การจัดการแสดงละครเวทีครั้งนี้ ไม่ได้มีความพิเศษแค่เนื้อเรื่องเท่านั้น แต่คือสเน่ห์ของการแสดงและร้องสด ที่จะทำให้นักแสดงของราสามารถจะสื่อสารกับคนดูได้อย่างชัดเจน พร้อมกับพร้อพและฉากหลังที่จัดแบบ minimal เข้าใจและเข้าถึงง่าย ไม่หวือหวาจนเกินไป ยิ่งมีดนตรีที่นักเรียนของเรามาช่วยบรรเลงสดให้ระหว่างการแสดง ทำให้บรรยากาศของโชว์นี้ดูยิ่งใหญ่และน่าตื่นตาตื่นใจมากขึ้น ราวกับได้นั่งเล่นอยู่บนเกาะในประเทศกรีซเลย
Mamma Mia เป็นละครเพลงเล่าเรื่องราวของ “โซฟี” ว่าที่เจ้าสาวซึ่งใฝ่ฝันที่จะจัดงานแต่งงานอันสมบูรณ์แบบ ณ เกาะแห่งหนึ่งในประเทศกรีซ โดยต้องการให้พ่อของเธอเป็นคนส่งตัวเธอเข้าสู่พิธีแต่งงาน แต่ว่าโซฟีไม่เคยรู้เลยว่าพ่อแท้ๆของเธอคือใคร... “ดอนน่า” แม่ของเธอซึ่งเคยเป็นนักร้องนำของวง “Donna and the Dynamos” ปฏิเสธที่จะพูดถึงอดีตของเธอให้ลูกสาวฟัง โซฟีจึงพยายามค้นหาคำตอบด้วยตัวเอง โดยการส่งบัตรเชิญงานแต่งงานของเธอไปให้ “บิล” “แซม” และ “แฮรี่” ชายทั้ง 3 ที่มีชื่อปรากฎอยู่ในไดอารี่ของดอนน่าที่โซฟีได้แอบไปอ่าน เรื่องราวความวุ่นวายทั้งหมดจึงได้เกิดขึ้น
Mamma Mia เป็นละครแนว Jukebox Musical ละครที่ทุกเพลงในเรื่อง มาจากชุดเพลงเดียวกัน โดยแต่งขึ้นมาก่อนที่จะนำมาเรียงร้อยในละครเพลง ซึ่งในเรื่องนี้ได้นำเพลงจากวงดนตรีชื่อดังอย่าง ABBA มาเป็นเพลงประกอบเรื่องนี้ โดยเราได้รับลิขสิทธิ์อย่างถูกต้องจากสถาบัน Music Theatre International (MTI) สร้างสรรค์ดนตรีและเนื้อร้องโดย Benny Andersson และ Björn Ulvaeus บทโดย Catherine Johnson ออกแบบแสงโดย อาจารย์ทวิทธิ์ เกษประไพ
อาจารย์ริชาร์ด ราฟส์ อาจารย์ใหญ่เตรียมอุดมดนตรี ในฐานะผู้กำกับละครเวที Mamma Mia! ครั้งนี้ กล่าวว่า
“เหตุผลที่นำละครเวทีเรื่อง Mamma Mia มาแสดงในปีนี้ก็เพราะว่า อยากให้นักเรียนได้ฝึกฝนและเรียนรู้จากการปฏิบัติจริง เนื่องจากสถานการณ์โควิด-19 ทำให้นักเรียนบางส่วน โดยเฉพาะนักเรียนชั้นม.6 ไม่ได้มีโอกาสที่จะสร้างสรรค์ผลงานที่ยิ่งใหญ่อย่างละครเวทีนี้ได้เลย และด้วยเนื้อหาของเรื่อง Mamma Mia ที่ไม่ได้มีความลึกซึ้งและเข้มข้นมากนัก ทำให้เป็นเรื่องที่เหมาะสำหรับนักเรียนระดับมัถยมศึกษาตอนปลายอย่างมาก อาจารย์ริชาร์ด ราฟส์จึงเลือกละครเวทีเรื่อง Mamma Mia มาจัดการแสดงในปีนี้ สุดท้ายนี้ อาจารย์ริชาร์ด ราฟส์ อยากจะบอกกับผู้ชมทุกคนว่า ขอให้รับชมการแสดงด้วยความสนุกสนานและผ่อนคลาย หวังว่าทุกท่านจะได้ดื่มด่ำไปกับเนื้อเรื่องที่มีทั้งความตลกขบขันและคติสอนใจเล็กๆน้อยๆอีกด้วย”
ต่อมา นาย อเล็กซานเดอร์ แทเร้นซ์ โบว์แมน นักเรียนระดับชั้นมัถยมศึกษาปีที่ 4 ของเราที่ได้รับบทเป็นตัวละครหลักจากเรื่อง Mamma Mia เขาได้เคยผ่านประสบการณ์จากหลากหลายเวที ทั้งเวทีการประกวดร้องเพลงอย่าง The Voice Kid Thailand 2020 และรายการ OSAKA International Music Competition ได้กล่าวว่า
“ในฐานะน้องใหม่ที่ได้รับบท Sky ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นตัวละครหลักที่ช่วยดำเนินเรื่อง ทำให้ได้มีโอกาสใหม่ๆ ในการฝึกฝน
ทำความเข้าใจบทบาทที่ตนได้รับในครั้งนี้ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการทำความเข้าใจบุคลิก ลักษณะนิสัย หรือท่าทางการแสดงออกของตัวละคร Sky รวมไปถึงเนื้อหาการดำเนินเรื่องในองค์รวมของ Mamma Mia the Musical อีกด้วย สุดท้ายนี้ก็ขอฝากผลงาน Mamma Mia the Music ของพวกเราด้วยนะครับ พวกเราทุกคนตั้งใจทำงาน ฝึกซ้อมสำหรับการแสดงนี้มากๆเลยครับ ขอให้ผู้ชมทุกท่านรับชมการแสดงด้วยความสนุกสนานและผ่อนคลาย หวังว่าทุกท่านจะมีความสุขไปกับเนื้อเรื่องที่มีทั้งความตลกขบขันและคติสอนใจเล็กๆน้อยๆอีกด้วย”

Top hit musical performed by high school students of the Young Artists Music Program, College of Music, Mahidol University
We’re back again, after being gone for 4 years, with a musical from the Young Artists Music Program (YAMP), College of Music, Mahidol University. After being stuck with the covid-19 situation, we were not able to perform in that period. But this year, 2023, we’ve brought back Mamma Mia! The Musical on stage! Prepare for a special show that will make you feel the joy you could never imagine. Every student worked and practiced really hard to make this show happen, whether it’s performers, the band, or even the students working backstage.
Though the story of this musical seems to be interesting, it is not the only special thing in this particular performance. The charm of this show is that everything is performed live. Our singers are singing live with nothing pre-recorded, our band members are playing their instruments live without any tracks being played along. The fact that everything is live makes this show more interactable. Audiences can receive the messages that our actors want to send almost directly. Even the minimal sceneries will have an impact on you, the simplicity of the scenes are easy to comprehend. The songs that we perform, add them all together with the acting and scenes, and you get a mesmerizing show as if you’re really in Greece!
Mamma Mia is a story about a young lady named “Sophie” who dreams of a perfect wedding — one which includes her father giving her away. The problem? Sophie doesn’t know who he is! Her mother, Donna, the former lead singer of the pop group Donna and the Dynamos, refuses to talk about the past, so Sophie decides to take matters into her own hands. Sneaking a peek in her mother’s old diaries, she discovers three possible fathers: Sam, Bill, and Harry. She secretly invites all three to the wedding, convinced that she’ll know her father when she sees him. But when all three turn up, it may not be as clear as she thought! Then the chaos starts there…
Mamma Mia is a Jukebox Musical, a musical that includes songs that come from the same source, which are composed before putting in the musical. For Mamma Mia, the songs that they use are from the famous band “ABBA” to help tell the story. We have legally bought copyright from the Music Theatre International (MTI), with Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus as the composer and lyricist. The whole musical itself was written by Catherine Johnson and the lighting was done by Tawit Keitprapai.
Here are some words from Richard A Ralphs, the principal of the Young Artist Music Program and the director of Mamma Mia! The Musical:
“The reason that we chose to perform Mamma Mia in this year is because we want the students to learn from doing and getting real experiences. Because of covid-19, many students, specially M.6 students, didn’t get a chance to create such a big event like this. Mamma Mia is ideal for students to start working on because the story isn’t too complicated, the emotions in this musical isn’t far too dark either, it is actually quite amusing. So it’s very suitable for high school students. Lastly, we want all of our audiences to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!”
And here are some words from Mr. Alexander Terrence Bowman, one of our main casts from M.4 who has had plenty of experiences on stage, such as attending The Voice Kid Thailand 2020. He is also the champion of OSAKA International Music Competition:
“As an M.4 student, getting the role of Sky has been a great opportunity to develop and improve myself. Understanding the character whether that be the personality or the behavior of Sky, and learning the story of Mamma Mia has given me a different perspective on the story as a whole. We have all worked very hard to bring this show to life, we hope everyone will have a great time getting to immerse yourselves in the comedic and romantic story of Mamma Mia!”
