“depa” Revving Up Digital Economy by Adding 2 New Features “JobD2U” and “Professional Skills Improvement” on ThaiFightCOVID platform to Help Unemployed People, Develop Digital Personnel
June 8, 2020 – depa Building Ladprao – The Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) as the developer of the ThaiFightCOVID platform (ThaiFightCOVID.depa.or.th) has launched two new features in compliance with the post-COVID-19 situation. They are JobD2U by ThaiFightCOVID-19, which is an online jobs searching platform, aiming to assist unemployed people and jobless workers, and “Professional Skills Improvement,” which is a feature created for those looking for a learning platform for upskilling and reskilling to increase career and employment opportunities or even building up their own business or being self-employed.
Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, President/CEO of depa, said Buddhipongse Punnakanta, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), assigned the depa to speed up the development of the ThaiFightCOVID.depa.or.th web application in accordance with the new normal after the end of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which has led to a new normal of lifestyle, new way of working, learning, studying as well as the new approach of doing business to steer the development of Thai economy and human resource development in the digital information and communication technology.
The depa launched “JobD2U” an online jobs searching community on Facebook platform and has further developed new features on the ThaiFightCOVID.depa.or.th web application to serve as the central platform to assist those who are unemployed and are seeking for jobs. The platform also provides people with career matching opportunities for employers and entrepreneurs to meet job seekers and right workers. There is a wide range of jobs in the IT and non-IT industries, including digital supporters. Currently, there are over 4,100 participants in the online jobs searching community with the number of job postings exceeding 10,000 positions from 60 companies.
“Moreover, there is also “Professional Skills Improvement,” which will be a new feature aimed at upskilling and reskilling career for a greater employment opportunity. It is now being developed and it is expected to be the center for online learning courses for interested people to reskill and upskill for a new expertise and new skills. It is suitable for those who are searching for a new career path with a goal to become self-employed and those looking for learning courses and skills development courses in order to improve their career growth and development in the future. So far, there are 36 learning courses to upskill for career growth,” said President/CEO of depa.
Dr. Nuttapon highly hopes that the ThaiFightCOVID.depa.or.th web application will provide opportunities for people working in the ICT and non-IT industry as well as those who need to elevate their professional skills and improve their career growth to have a more convenient, interactive jobs searching channel that matches preferences of each individual. It is also a way forward to creating a digital society so that Thai people will be able to adapt to the new normal.
Interested people can now get access to “JobD2U” feature, while the “Professional Skills Improvement” feature is under development at the moment. It is expected to be fully operational soon. Earlier, the depa launched a new feature to allow people and business operators to easily search and check for their eligibility to receive government’s assistance and remedial measures.
ThaiFightCOVID.depa.or.th is a platform developed by the depa to serve as a central channel to present accurate, reliable information on the spread of the COVID-19 from the government and state agencies so as to reduce public concerns about the virus pandemic. The platform features useful data and information through collaborating with the public and private sectors and a group of Thai digital startups. They have jointly developed the platform as features in the platform have been continuously improved for the best interest of Thai people to better deal with any crisis.
